  • 501(C) 3 IRS tax exempt organization started in Houston in 2006.

  • KSF's goal is to provide scholarships to needy students in several Kenyan High Schools.

  • Primary education in Kenya is free. However, secondary education is partially subsidized by the Kenyan government, and only 10% of students get more than an 8th grade education. Girls are lowest priority in many homes.

  • Scholarship selection criteria include financial distress, extracurricular activities, community involvement and written communication skills. This information is expressed by students in an essay.

  • Students must maintain a "B" average or better in order to retain their scholarship.

  • Future goals of Kenya Scholarship Fund are adding a computer training component to the education of Kenyan High School students.
