May 23rd 2010 Ashford United Methodist Church Car Wash

On Sunday 23rd May from 12:15 p.m. to 3 p.m., Ashford United Methodist Youth pleasantly surprised KSF by making a difference to a good cause.

12 youth and 2 leaders quickly changed clothes after church service, got wet and happily washed more than 20 cars.  While waiting in the fellowship hall, complimentary BBQ hamburgers and soft drinks were served to families. 3 KSF Board members assisted.

This successful community event, attended by young (6 month old baby) and old alike was a great success and benefitted KSF Girls’ Schools Chapter.

We thank God for AUMC family.

March 18, 2010 - Kenyan Dinner In Chapala, Mexico

Last night I cooked a four course Kenyan dinner for six friends at Susan & Kermit's house in Chapala Mexico. The weather was Nairobi-like and great for outdoors.  We enjoyed welcome dawas, KSF Girls' Schools update from website, Safari-style dining on the veranda with music, South African wines and Amarula.  The conversation was exceptional as one of the couples had lived in Maseno in the 70, truly loves Kenya and are still big into education.

Proceeds were far beyond expectation, so more power to KSF girls.

January 2010 - Charity Dinner at Hungry's Restaurant

The first Kenya Scholarship Fund Event of 2010 was held on Friday 22nd January at Hungry's Cafe & Bistro in Memorial and Rice Village, Houston, Texas.

Hungry's web page says, "Although we are a small company, we participate with schools, churches and organizations in our community to make Houston a better place to live, work, play and of course to eat."

By God's grace, Kenya Scholarship Fund was selected for their charity dinner night.  All in attendance with KSF flier automatically donated 10% of their bill to our fund.  The night appeared to be a great sucess, with the Memorial location filled to capacity around 7:30 p.m.  The owner and hard-working waiters made sure guests were well taken care of.  The evening provided a great opportunity to share laughter and a good meal with friends and family.

The grand total of guests who came out to support KSF was $892.39.  Hungry's paid KSF $89.23.  Their comment was "This was by far the most successful event we have held for a local charitable organization.  GREAT JOB!!'

Thanks to all who helped make this event a success.
